Star Party in Hauke Park, Mill Valley

Tuesday, October 28, 2025 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Free

Join the Mill Valley Public Library and Marin Stargazers for a night of stargazing in Hauke Park South! Peek through the library’s circulating Orion Starblast 4.5 inch reflector telescope, our new StarSense Explorer telescope, and telescopes provided by Marin Stargazers volunteers. On October 28th we’ll be able to see a beautiful first quarter moon with its craters and mountains as well as Saturn, whose rings will almost seem to disappear, which only happens every 15 years! Distant Neptune will also be visible along with fascinating and colorful double stars like Albireo and the “double double” in Lyra. The great globular cluster in Hercules and the vivid Wild Duck open cluster will be among our deep sky treats. And with a little luck we’ll glimpse the Andromeda Galaxy at over 2 million light years away.

Feel free to park by the public restrooms at 1 Hamilton Drive, next to the police station. The telescopes will be set up in Hauke Park South, a few steps from the parking lot. Feel free to drop in any time between 6:30-8:30pm. All ages are welcome at our star party. Make sure to dress warm
